Preparing for Your Visit
-
Bring a list of your current medications (or the bottles) so your Care Team can review them.
-
Think about what you need to tell your provider (symptoms, tests, other provider visits, hospitalizations) and what questions you want answered.
-
For children’s appointments, bring your child’s immunization records.
-
You are welcome to bring a companion with you to your visit.
-
If you are hard of hearing or have limited vision, a physical impairment, or other special need let them know so that they can assist you.
Dental Health
Dental care is covered under Medi-Cal, referred to as Denti-Cal. It pays for regular check-ups, cleanings, root canals (some), extractions, dentures, periodontal disease, and emergency services.

So what’s the problem?

No provider in the immediate area is accepting new adult patients.

Uh....But what about my teeth?

-
Burre Dental Center, located at 959 Myrtle Avenue in Eureka, takes TWO adult emergency patients per day. You must call at 8:00AM on the day you want to go (707-442-7078). Remember, they only take two emergency patients per day. If you wait until 8:03AM to call, it’s likely that you will not be one of those two. This is only for emergency services (infections and/or tooth pain). Be prepared to wait for at least five hours. This is a work-in appointment.
-
The only provider accepting new adult patients in Humboldt County is Southern Trinity Health Services, 321 Van Duzen Road, Mad River, CA. 707-574-6616.

There are several providers accepting new adult patients in the Redding and Santa Rosa areas. You can search Denti-cal’s website for providers accepting new adult patients at www.denti-cal.ca.gov/find-a-dentist/home. You can get a copy of the beneficiary handbook at www.denti-cal.ca.gov/DC_documents/beneficiaries/DC_beneficiary_handbook.pdf.

Medi-Cal will pay for transportation to Redding or Santa Rosa for a dental or medical appointment. Call 866-828-2303 to arrange such once you have an appointment with a provider.

More information on these resources can be found in the UPLIFT Eureka Resource Guide.
