Community outreach

The UPLIFT Eureka Homeless Outreach Workers (HOWs) serve as the "front door" to our programs, meeting community members experiencing homelessness where they are, whether it be on the streets, in camps, in shelters, or at meal and resource sites. Having face-to-face interactions with individuals is crucial to building trust and rapport with them. Through established community partnerships, outreach workers connect individuals with vital resources and facilitate warm handoffs to service providers, including mental health and addiction services. The Homeless Outreach Team also works closely with Eureka Police Department's Community Safety Engagement Team (CSET), collaboratively working on long-term solutions and outreach strategies.
